SMC – Soft Magnetic Composite
The main material of SMC(Soft Magnetic Composite) is the high purity iron powder, insulated on the surface, pressed with the powder metallurgy tech, heated to be the SMC cores. The ‘new’ of SMC is shown in the ‘low’ high frequency eddy losses, high saturation induction intension, and being easily processed to be the complex 3D structure. In application SMC can make motors small, reducing power consumption, saving wire and easy assembling etc.
SMC Advantages
SMC(Soft Magnetic Composite) is developed in order to replace traditional silicon steel sheets, it has below advantages compared with silicon steel sheets:
I. Low iron losses while running in high frequency:There is an insulating protective frlm on the surface of every particle of the materials to make high electrical resistivity, so the eddy current losses are reduced to a large extent.
II. Raising material utilization: With PM formed, the material utilization is beyond 95%.
III. Easy pole shifting: Do not need magnetic orientation, also can be designed in 3D structure.
IV. Low heating:As for the low eddy current losses and high efficiency make the low energy consumption, so heating is improved while motors run in high frequency.
V. Precise tolerance: The dimension is completely controlled by module to make the size precise and surface smooth.
VI. Reducing motor cost: SMC cores can be processed in 3D structure to shorten axial size to save wires.
VII. Lower Magnetostrictive coefficient: Obvious reducing motor noise.
