Details of the Alnico Major Magnets
The Alnico Major Magnet is a precision magnetically tuned magnetic field assembly. It offers 2000 Gauss (0.2Tesla) in the air gap between the two poles at ambient temperature and pressure.

The Alnico Major Magnet comprises a large and sturdy C-shaped alnico horseshoe shape with high quality mild steel (ferromagnetic) poles. The assembly is fully magnetised to over 2000 Gauss then deliberated magnetically “knocked back” (weakened) to give the final 2000 Gauss (which is the same as 2kG, 200mT or 0.2T) field reading in the air gap between the steel poles.
Alnico Magnetic Material with Excellent Thermal Characteristics
The Alnico Major Magnet can be used at temperatures up to +550 degrees C (+1022 Fahrenheit) with excellent stability of magnetic output as the magnet heats up (following the excellent thermal characteristics of Alnico magnetic material). The pole gap (air gap) is 27.3mm.
Typical Applications of Alnico Major Magnets
Typical applications include Mass Spectrometry, Medical Experiments, sensor designs, generator experiments, school and college projects, etc. Such applications require a magnetic field strength of known value in an air gap.

A Chinese Research establishment contacted us to design a dipole Halbach Array to produce a 1 Tesla field in the centre of the Halbach Array.
We have 3D FEA software (Infolytica Magnet) to assist with the magnetic design on such things as Halbach Arrays. In this case we had to design the unit to give a 1 Tesla field in the centre and to demonstrate the magnetic field profile within the central cylinder air gap (flux map).

We then used our in-house magnet design and manufacturing facilities to produce the Halbach Array at low cost while maintaining the high quality required for the application.

Bespoke Magnetic Coupling Design
We were approached by a China company requiring a bespoke magnetic coupling design. The customer knew the torque rating they required and had a shaft diameter but they wished to keep magnet costs to a minimum and they wished to retain design control of the assembly for their bespoke application. Corrosion resistance was also desirable. We custom designed the magnetic design using stock item magnets (to allow continuity of supply at short notice while offering low magnet cost) and shared the design with the customer to develop the rest of their assembly to their own specifications.
We also supply magnetic assemblies and sub-assemblies to customer drawings for other pump coupling applications. We can design couplings with torque ratings from 1 Nm up to and beyond several hundred Nm for temperatures from below ambient to upwards of 300 degrees C.

We were approached by a company to supply a magnetic rotor assembly for a generator application. The high speed rotor would be used for multi-phase voltage generation. The power electronics would be simple to keep costs down. The customer wanted same magnitude voltage output in each phase.

We provide the ability to produce rotor assemblies in-house. Such rotors can be sleeved (Inconel, glass fibre, etc) to keep the magnets mechanically on the rotor. The rotors can also be mechanically balanced to meet customer anti-vibration requirements (to minimise bearing wear for example). We also offer a little-known service called magnetic balancing.
Magnetic Balancing Service
Magnetic balancing is where we Helmholtz coil test the magnets to determine each magnet’s magnetic performance. We can then place the magnets on the rotor in such a way that each phase of coil winding will “see” the same levels of magnetic performance. The magnet placement is such that we have magnetically tuned / magnetically balanced the performance in each phase of coil winding. The end result is that the generated voltages in each phase are more evenly balanced with nearer to equal voltage magnitudes allowing for cheaper and simpler power electronics to be used.
Such magnetic and mechanical balancing on rotors by HSMAG can be used in generators, motors and even on other electrical machines, actuators and drives.

Wet Drum Separators – For recovering magnetic / ferrosilicon in dense media plants and iron ores wet drum separators are primarily used. They remove contaminants from the product stream, increasing product purity and plant productivity. In the applications where the product purity is most essential the wet drum separators can use powerful rare earth magnets which can remove very fine and weak contaminants even from dense materials.
How it Works?
The liquid flows through a semicircular separating chamber beneath a stainless steel drum gather is a semicircular separating chamber through which the liquid flows. The cylinder consisting of permanent magnetic discs are positioned within the drum to which the magnetizable particles are attracted. By rotating the drum, the filter cake is lifted out of the slurry and the magnetic field.

Ferrite Plastic Magnet has the features of low magnetic proprty and lower cost.

NdFeB Plastic Magnet is a material with high cost performance. After mixed with different ratio of magnetic powder and resin, its magnetic energy produce (BH) could achieve 2.0—8.0MGOe and mostly used in precision motors and sensors field.

Characteristic
· Max. magnetic energy produce of anisotropy SmCo plastic magnet can be reached to 8.0MOe and the cost is relatively high.
SmFeN Bonded Injection Magnets
· A new type of bonded permanent magnet material.
· The maximum magnetic energy produce of anisotropy SmFeN plastic magnet can be reached to 16MGOe, however it is the most expensive material.
